Park and travel to Weston Pride for less than £2 per person…and avoid the rail strikes!
UK Pride in Weston-super-Mare kicks off this weekend, and First Bus is offering advice to passengers to avoid planned rails strikes.
The annual LGBTQ+ event takes to the streets of the seaside town on Saturday 30th September, and First West of England is highlighting how attendees can park and travel into what is expected to be a busy town centre for less than £2 per person.
On Pride Day, many of the roads in and around the town centre will be closed for the showpiece parade, followed by the main event in Grove Park, where the parade ends. The parade is due to start at Knightstone Island at 11am, continuing along Royal Parade, Regent Street and through the pedestrianised High Street leading to Grove Park. The parade is expected to take about an hour.
The festival site at Grove Park will be open from 11am until 9pm.
Those attending are being advised to avoid driving into the town centre and instead consider taking one of the many First bus routes. For those travelling further afield, consider parking in one of the out-of-town car parks, including at Worle Parkway Station car park, where parking all day on a Saturday costs £2.10. Nearby First bus routes (services 6 and 7) take passengers into Weston town centre every 30 minutes, and up to five people can travel all day for £7.20 on a Weston zone group ticket.
For those coming from Bristol, don’t forget the X1 service runs from Bristol Bus Station every 30 minutes taking you direct to Weston Interchange, just a short walk from the Pride parade or festival site.
Train operator GWR is reminding those travelling that due to industrial action by train drivers, there will be no rail services to/from Weston-super-Mare and travellers will need to seek alternative transport.

“After a summer packed with events, parades and roadshows, Weston’s Pride is one of the final events of the season as we prepare to enter the Autumn and Winter, and we’re looking forward to meeting lots of you in the seaside town this weekend – let’s hope the late summer sun keeps shining.”
